The Magic of Kids Cooking: From Stress to Success

Hey there!
I just wanted to have a little chat about something that keeps popping up in our Family Cooking Club and it’s honestly too lovely not to share.

Each week, I see such a big shift in kids when they get into cooking.
Parents are telling me they’ve noticed a big drop in anxiety levels and a real boost in confidence and self-esteem all from spending a bit of time in the kitchen and enjoying the dish they’ve made. And I totally see it too!

So I thought I’d pass it on and maybe dive into it a bit. Who knows, maybe it’s something that could help even more kids out there.

Anxiety in Kids Is on the Rise

Being realistic anxiety is becoming more and more common in kids these days.
Just a quick scroll through the news is enough to make any of us feel overwhelmed, and kids are picking up on all of that too.

If they’ve had a tough day at school, they might go online to unwind, but that can often make things worse. We’ve all ended up comparing ourselves to perfect-looking lives online, feeling not good enough and kids are right in the thick of that too.

Kids’ minds are constantly switched on school, homework, social pressures and during their downtime, that’s often when the spiralling thoughts start.

Their self-worth might already feel a bit shaky, and then they’re bombarded with videos and images showing the ‘best’ of everything. It’s a lot to take in, especially for a young mind.

A Calming Creative Outlet That Works

But here’s where the magic happens at least in my experience.

Cooking gives them a break from all of that. It’s something to focus on, something fun, and something that feels like theirs. Not every child is into sports or big group activities, so cooking can be that perfect little outlet: calm, creative, and full of small wins.

Cooking Builds Confidence Step by Step

I’ve been running our kids cooking classes for over four years now, and honestly, it’s incredible to watch.

It usually starts with choosing a recipe and just that bit of planning can spark joy. Then they start cooking, learning simple tasks, and before you know it, there’s this huge sense of pride.

You can see it in their faces they’re calmer, happier, and genuinely proud of what they’ve created.

A Simple Way to Reset and Recharge

Cooking becomes a kind of reset button a chance for kids to take a break from negative self-talk and just enjoy the moment.

And the best part? It’s something they can do anytime, right at home!.

Why not try it out? Pick a recipe, plan a little dish, and see how it feels.
Let me know how you get on and if you ever need ideas or support, I’m always here for a chat.

We’ve also got loads of recorded classes in the Family Cooking Club. Your kids can join in anytime, camera off if they’d prefer super easy and relaxed.

Happy Cooking!
