Instructions

Prepping the Ingredients

  • Wash your hands and get ready!
  • Grate the garlic
  • Chop the parsley and thyme finely.

Making the Meatballs

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mince, garlic, Worcester sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, grated onion, parsley, and thyme.
  • Use your hands to mix everything—don’t worry about getting messy!
  • Roll the mixture into 12 small meatballs (about the size of a golf ball).
  • Place each meatball into a mini muffin tin (or on a baking tray). Ask an adult to pop them in the oven at 180°C (fan) for 20 minutes.

Making the Sauce

  • Chop the onion and slice the mushroom and grate the other garlic clove
  • While the meatballs are baking, heat a little oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onions and garlic to soften, stirring occasionally.
  • Toss in the mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes until they shrink a little.
  • Stir in the dijon mustard, then pour in the beef stock. Let it simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to combine.
  • Bringing It All Together
  • Once the meatballs are out of the oven, carefully place them into the sauce.
  • Stir everything together and add a big dollop of creme fraiche to make it creamy and delicious.
  • Serving (End of Class)
  • Serve your meatballs with some fluffy rice and get ready to dig in!

Top Tip for Kids

  • You can experiment with this recipe by using turkey mince instead of beef or swapping the beef stock for chicken stock. Have fun making it your own!
