I live for easy recipes… minimum effort with maximum results… When I first read a recipe, certain ingredients put m
off… Yeast is one that can sometimes do this… If I’m making bread I want it to be easy… no resting … no waiting for it to rise … I just want to wack in all the ingredients, give it a mix and bake…
These brown bread rolls are so easy to bake “yum” becomes my every own Paul Hollywood in the kitchen… she does most of the work. kneading, mixing and brushing with egg, .. the smell in the kitchen is a added bonus (smells just like a french bakery, handy if your planning to sell your house).. and they only take 40 mins to cook.
These are the perfect pairing for my Thick and veg chicken soup, you can also cut these in circles and make scones
Ingredients makes 8
400g coarse wheat flour (I use the one from Lidl)
1 tablespoon of baking powder
4 tablespoons butter (melted)
3 tablespoons honey
450g natural yoghurt (large tub) (the Glenisk strained Greek-style yoghurt vanilla flavour is delish in these)
1 egg for brushing
a sprinkle of sesame seeds (optional, but you can now get them in Lidl)
Method
Preheat oven 180 C… you will need 2 mixing bowls and baking tray lined with baking paper
first, mix all your dry ingredients in one bowl… (flour, baking powder,)
Now mix all the wet ingredients into another bowl… mix the melted butter and honey with the full tub of yoghurt
pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix well…
knead with your hands and flour a work surface (I use the wheat flour on the work surface too)
add more flour if you think you might need it… kneed and cut into 8 balls
press down and brush each one with egg.. (a great job for the kids )
sprinkle with sesame seeds
bake for 40 mins…
