The past few weeks have been like that famous scene from the wizard of Oz..
You know the one were Dothery,s house gets caught up in the tornado and she wakes up in technicolor.
Yep “ Dorothy you are no longer in Kansas anymore..
In late September I got a delivery of all your pre order s of “One Yummy Mummy, Family Food Made Easy” for me to sign.
All 400 copies of them! When I saw all the books laid out in my sitting room I burst into tears ..
it was the realization of the number of people believing in me and the book.
It just hit me..
I had waited months for this moment and couldn’t wait for you all to get your hands on your cookbook
Then I waited .. again for you to receive them
It was just like a whirlwind!
You started cooking, in your hundreds, and photographing and messaging.
Telling me how much you needed this book in your life and how it,s met all your culinary needs as busy mothers.
That its the cookbook you’ve been waiting for.
I always say this is a cookbook to be used again and again every night, not just sit on a shelf and look pretty.
I wanted to create a book that I would use myself, with recognizable ingredients and easy to follow step by step tasty recipes.
You guys started talking, and by old-school word of mouth and your recommendation when the book hit the Easons website, it sold out over the very same weekend.
I walked into my local Easons in Tallaght just to see on the off chance if they had the book. (doing a bit of yellow pages ad. Remember the one Fly fishing by JR Hartley )
I got the shock of my life, there I was the pride of place, snuggled up with all the cooking legends of our time, Jamie, Donal and little old ME!
Pass the tissues.. shes off , in floods AGAIN
Another dream come true..
The Redline book festival at the civic
I was part of this years line up for the red line book festival.
and performed my first ever cooking demo in The civic theater. There was a bit of magic in the room that day and I soaked up every minute of it. In fact, I didn’t want it to end.
The Event was also a sell out on the day and to top it all off we sold out of cookbooks, another first for the Festival.
The amazingly talented Simon Walsh shot a video of all the action on the day and it sums up the atmosphere more that I could ever put into words.
The support again from family and friends was amazing, but getting to meet all of you guys, followers and supporters of the blog was the icing on the cake, getting to thank you for the support and belief personally really meant so much to me.
Our 4 moderator s of the home cooks Ireland group, Emma, Ciara, Amelia, and Jessica also took the trek from the 4 corners of Ireland to be there with me, it was the first time we met in person and you would swear we knew each other all our lives, such kindred spirits.
We had a great night out too and danced into the early wee hours.
I had my book launch in Dubray Books on Grafton Street last Thursday night and to see myself in a window in a bookshop on the most famous street in Dublin was so surreal. The launch was another huge success, the place was buzzing with well-wishers and cookbook buyers. Gerry from Orpen press spoke about how this has been their first cookbook to publish and how they are also very proud of it and delighted they got behind me and the book.
That meant so much! The gamble paid off. (phew)
The photo of the night goes to my wee family here.
Early Christmas present
I don’t want to do a hard sell here
But.. If you haven’t gotten around to getting the cookbook yet or fancy it as a little stocking filler.
You can bag your copy from the Easons website here .. There are loads of discount codes around for Easons so just google them and put it in at the checkout.
There are delays down to demand but you will definitely get it in time for under the tree X
I’m told it,s the only cookbook you will ever need from good authority 😉 with 105 easy family recipes that will be cooked again and again.
I just want to say Thanks so much from the bottom of my heart guys.
I hope to do a mini book tour and would love to get out, meet and thank as many of you as possible, your messages of support mean the world to me.
Most importantly you are all loving the cookbook.
and the one thing I’m most proud of in all of this?
That one little-redheaded girl looking up and seeing that dreams can come true.
