There is nothing like the satisfaction of making pizza at home, and finding an easy pizza dough recipe that works time and time again. This one makes 2″ 9 inch thin and crispy base pizzas that taste exactly like they are straight out of a pizzeria (the neighbours were nearly calling in for some with the smell wafting out the window).
I keep these simple with pepperoni and red pepper but the beauty of pizza is you can add your own favourite toppings!! Serve them with a simple salad and potato wedges. So easy x
I love to know how you get on with this one over on the Facebook page or over in the one yummy mummy community group
Enjoy lovelies Jolene x
Ingredients (makes 2, 9-inch pizzas)
For the dough
200g strong white flour
1 teaspoon of dry active yeast
a good heaped teaspoon of salt
120 Mls of warm water
2 tablespoons of olive oil (a little extra for oiling the bowl)
For the tomato sauce
200 g passata
a tablespoon of dried oregano
a tablespoon of basil
season with salt and pepper
Toppings
mix grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese in equal measures in a bowl (around 300g each) add whatever other toppings you like
Method
In a large clean bowl drizzle 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil and rub it around the bowl to prevent the dough from sticking.
add 200g of flour a teaspoon of dry action Yeast, and a good heaped teaspoon of salt
Get 120 mls of warm water ,(half cold and half boiling, check temp with your finger so it’s not too hot to work with) add the 2 tablespoons of oil to the water (it will sit on the top)
pour the water and oil into the flour mixing together with a wooden spoon,
mould into a ball
flour your hands and work surface and turn your dough ball out, lightly knead your dough
wash your mixing bowl and oil it again, put your dough back in, drizzle a little oil on top and cover the top your bowl with cling film or a tea towel
leave for 45 mins to rise a little (I leave mine under the stairs)
grate cheese and get the tomato sauce ready by adding oregano and basil, chop any veggies you want to add.
After 45 mins
Preheat your oven to 180c fan
oil two 9 inch baking trays,
turn out the dough ball and cut in half, give a little kneading.
put each ball in the centre of the baking tray and spread to the edges with your fingers, it will take for 5 to 10 mins because of the elasticity of the dough, as it spreads pat it down with the palm of your hand.
add tomato sauce, cheese and toppings and bake on the middle shelf of the oven for around 30 to 45 Mins serve with wedges and salad!!
