Apple and sage Pork burgers

We are huge home made burgers fans in our house esp with a bit of sunshine, (If only it would shine) I love mixing it up a bit using turkey or pork mince. Pork apple and sage are classic food combinations, (why mess with the classics) These are just delish topped with a spoon of relish or a slice of melted smokey cheese, snuggled in the middle of a brioche bun. (yum has hers with just a squirt of ketchup, and loves to help make them by forming the patties)  I always like cook my burgers in the oven, it only takes 20 mins leaving them really juicy and tender, that way they never dry out, if you like a bit of a browner finish just grill them for a min at the end…

Ingredients

  • 1 pack pork mince (500g)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 eating apple
  • 1 onion
  • a bunch of fresh sage
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 chicken stock cube (I use Oxo cause it’s easier to crumble in)

Method (makes 4 burgers)

preheat oven to 180c gas 4

Add pork mince to a large mixing bowl

Grate and peel onion and apple, crush garlic and chop your sage, add this to the mince

sprinkle  garlic and onion powder, season with salt and pepper  get your hands stuck in

Now get your hands stuck in to  give a good mix,

separate into 4 patties.. place on a baking tray and cook for 20 mins … (grill for a min at the end if you like a brown finish)

serve with salad and Potato wedges x
