Im not a very Crafty person,,, ok I lie, im crafty when it comes to sneaking veggies into “yum,s” food. But when it comes to arts and crafts, I’m pretty terrible, luckily enough “yum” hasn’t noticed how bad I really am yet. She would sit for hours, painting, sticking and gluing.. While I like a bit of direction, a bit of arty inspiration.
“Get Crafty” is a children s arts and crafts book from fellow parenting blogger Ali Coghlan.. If you’re looking for inspiration, this book, has it in abundance.. Doable arts and crafts for all ages, with easy to source materials (Not like, in my day, watching bosco, you would need sticky back plastic, when making everything, I lived in a small village,, we had 2 shops and sticky back plastic wasn’t high in supply ) 😉
Also “get crafty” has a lovely introduction, which explains the benefits of doing arts and crafts with your kids, and even if you’re as bad as I am, it doesn’t matter… the most important thing, is its Fun..
“Get crafty” inspired me so much I decided to do a craft this week at our local mother and toddler group.. Edible painting..
Edible painting is so simple and easy.. really inexpensive and most importantly .. the children just loved it. They all sat for around 40 minutes, tasting, painting, and laughing, which is the longest we have ever got out of an arts and craft activity!
I think the most enjoyable part, was that the little ones got to eat their creations at the end!
This book is packed full of craft ideas throughout, and has a little thematic section at the end, for Christmas, Easter and other celebrations through out the year. I know I will use it again and again!!
I received a copy of “get crafty” for the purpose of this review.. all opinions are my own as always.
