The blogger Interview

I was tagged by the delightful katie from growing up katertot and the lovely  Nicole from the domesticated goddess to answer some questions for “The Blogger Interview.” (thanks girls) I was a bit nervous as i’ve been only blogging a short while and still loads to learn… But its a good chance to get to know me and what i’m about. So here goes…

How did you get into blogging?
To be totally honest, I knew very little about blogging when I first started in March this year.  I was creating children s recipes all the time, and my fussy little relatives were gobbling them up.  My friends and family kept saying you really need to get these recipes out there. So I thought a blog would be a great place to start and it,s just grew from there. What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?
Research … and put a good bit of time into it before you start. (and go into it for the right reasons) I knew nothing about the whole blogging etiquette (I was like a teen who first discovered bebo) when I started out. I probably p*ssed a lot of other bloggers off (none has told me by the way yet)  I read a lot of stuff on web, on ” how to get your blog out there” I should of ignored all that.. and went with my gut.My next piece of advice is to enjoy your real friends as much as your virtual buddy,s and on a special occasion put the phone away x

How has your blog changed since you started writing it?
When I first started it was just my recipes and it was very faceless…  It wasn’t very personal.. Now my blog very much a part of me. my readers have really got to know me. My main attribute is that I am just a normal Irish mammy. I have a very average kitchen, and i’m on a really tight budget. I get kids to try and test every recipe I post. We can all get stuck in a rut food wise . So if parents have found them selves at a loss, with what to cook (and are “thinking sure they won,t” eat it any way) I will try my best to point them in the right direction. My blog has become very personal to me and my readers.

What advice would you give to PR’s approaching you for a campaign?
I am very passionate about nutrition and healthy eating for children, so if is a product that is connected with that, my enthusiasm will pour out..   as well I am, devoted to any thing that helps children grow in a positive manner. (also if a company is looking for “an every day mammy’s honest  opinion” I am your girl.

Do you have a plan for your blog?
My plan is to let the blog grow and get my message out there. Hopefully learning and getting better as it grows. (and not to p*ss any one else off)

What do you think about rankings?
I honestly didn’t know what rankings were either, until a buddy said to me… your getting THAT many views a day. I was like how do you know? She said look at the bar chart…. that’s how many views your getting. (true story) Well long may it last.  I must be doing something right. Its honestly more about getting the recipes out there and connecting with people.
So i will pass the baton on to (and no pressure girl,s) Have fun x get messy x one yummy mummy xx

  1. I love your answers, Jolene! My blog was sort of impersonal when I stared, too. It’s amazing how blogging brings you out of your shell and makes you more confident to share more about yourself. What a fantastic post. I really enjoyed reading it. Thank you so much for accepting your nomination!! Xx
